Confidentiality

The confidentiality of client’s information is a central and integral part Dunmanway Family Resource Centre’s therapeutic supports delivery. Dunmanway Family Resource Centre is committed to ensuring that all clients information is managed in line with accepted good practice and current legislation. This policy covers all Dunmanway Family Resource Centre employed therapists, sessional therapists, student placement/ therapists and all relevant staff within an FRC. Confidentiality can never be absolute and therefore absolute confidentiality can never be guaranteed.

All clients are to be made aware of Dunmanway Family Resource Centre confidentiality policy as soon as is practicable after they first access Dunmanway Family Resource Centre therapeutic supports. Confidentiality is between the client and Dunmanway Family Resource Centre It is not between the client and any particular member of staff. Case specific information will be shared with FRC staff as relevant and necessary.

All clients have the right to have a copy of any information held regarding them by Dunmanway Family Resource Centre, with the provision that, where certain information in the file identifies other people to whom the organisation owes a duty of confidentiality, such information will be redacted. Copy information must be requested in writing by the client. Staff members should assist with this as appropriate. The coordinator Tracy Sheehan will deal with all such requests; the organisation endeavours that all requests will receive a response within ten working days, see data protection policy for more information. No information about a client will be passed on to any third party except in the following cases:

  • Where consent has been obtained under this policy
  • Where there is a legal obligation to provide information to a third party
  • Where a decision is taken by management to share information with a third party as outlined in section 10. [1]

Consent to share information with a third party should always be given initially in writing, and thereafter may be given verbally. Clients have the right to withdraw consent for the sharing of information at any time, except where the FRC decides, or is obliged, to share information, as outlined in section 10. [1]

Privacy Policy

In addition to the duty of care regarding confidentiality outlined above, the Data Protection Acts imposes legal obligations on Dunmanway Family Resource Centre, its staff and volunteers. Dunmanway Family Resource Centre] takes seriously its responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts.  The FRC is aware of and acts in accordance with the following eight Data Protection rules regarding information:

1.1.1.   Obtain and process the information fairly

1.1.2.   Keep it only for one or more specified and lawful purposes

1.1.3.   Process it only in ways compatible with the purposes for which it was given to you initially

1.1.4.   Keep it safe and secure

1.1.5.   Keep it accurate and up-to-date

1.1.6.   Ensure that it is adequate, relevant and not excessive

1.1.7.    Retain it no longer than is necessary for the specified purpose or purposes

1.1.8.   Give a copy of his/her/their personal data to any individual, on request.

The software will save a cookie to your computer’s hard drive in order to track and monitor your engagement and usage of the website, but will not store, save or collect personal information. Should users wish to deny the use and saving of cookies from this website onto their computer’s hard drive, they should click on ‘Reject All’ on the pop up banner on our website and then take necessary steps within their web browser’s security settings to block all cookies from this website and its external serving vendors.

Information Collection and Usage

We collect your information when you provide your data to us directly, or you are reffered by someone else by email, over the phone, through the website contact form, or through the referral forms available for download.

Dunmanway Family Resource Centre will not retain your personal information longer than necessary. We will hold onto the information you provide either while your account is in existence, or as needed to be able to provide the services to you, or (in the case of any contact you may have with us) for as long as is necessary. If legally required or if it is reasonably necessary to meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our terms and conditions, we may also retain some of your information for a limited period of time as required, even after you have closed your account or it is no longer needed to provide the services to you.
